Some people think that the best way to improve road safety is to increase the minimum legal age for driving a car or motorbike. To what extent do you agree or disagree? You should write at least 254 words.

Road
safety is a primary concern across the world. Many feel that increasing the
age
limit to obtain a license could result in fewer
accidents
.
However
, I believe that creating awareness and introducing stricter
fines
could lead to better results over legislation for limiting the
age
for acquiring a license. The primary reason for
accidents
is not following traffic rules. It is estimated that one-third of
road
accidents
are caused by not following
road
symbols, resulting in deaths and severe damages. A significant proportion of the surveyed drivers admitted that they do not obey
road
rules; and when inquired about the reasons, negligible
fines
came as the top reason for violations.
Hence
, by increasing traffic violation
fines
, the government can vastly improve
road
safety. Another reason for poor
road
safety is the lack of awareness among the population. A study conducted by the motor department revealed that 68% of the surveyed young people did not know the consequences of an accident. Another study where an accident survivor spoke to the public about his struggle, revealed that the listeners were more aware of the impact of
accidents
after listening to the speaker's story.
This
shows that, by providing adequate training and education, the government could reduce traffic violations and
accidents
. The call for increasing the
age
limit for driving cars and bikes may sound like a simple solution to a much more complex problem.
Although
it is an impressive proposition, I feel that it would not be adequate to curb the issues on the
road
. The lawmakers will gain more by introducing stricter
fines
and creating awareness rather than adding
age
restrictions.
