The pie chart displays the causes of land degradation globally and the table gives the same information but focuses on 3 regions which were North America (NA), Europe (
EU
), and Oceania (
OCN
).
Overall
, it can be seen that the majority of degradation came from over-grazing and the
EU
contributed the most to degradation. The unit was measured in percentages. To be specific, over-grazing had the highest proportions which were 35 of the total and the
OCN
was found to be the most contributor in
this
category which was 11.3 and followed by the
EU
and the NA which took 5.5 and 1.5 respectively. The second degraded cause was deforestation which accounted for 30 of the total and the
EU
dominated completely which took 9.8
while
the rest spent below 2.
Similarly
, the
EU
continued dominating in over-cultivation issues at 7.7 and the NA contributed the remaining percentage which was 3.3
while
the
OCN
surprisingly did not participate in
this
issue. In conclusion, the
EU
suffered from the devastation of land which was 23%, followed by the
OCN
at 13% and the NA had the lowest cost at 5%.
