Many manufactured food and drink products contain high levels of sugar, which cause many health problems. Sugary products should be made more expensive to encourage people to consume less sugar. Do you agree or disagree?

There are various opinions on whether sugary
goods
must be priced higher to lead consumers to eat less
sugar
. In
this
essay, I will explain both views and explain why making sugary
goods
more expensive is useless to reduce consumption. On the one hand, some
people
believe that making sugary
goods
more expensive leads consumers to eat less
sugar
because the
price
is a critical criterion.
For example
, when I was young, I greatly liked to eat chewing jellies which have a lot of
sugar
, but, one day the
price
doubled suddenly and naturally led me not to purchase them any more.
On the other hand
, I insist that,
although
the
price
of sugary
products
soared, it can not prevent
people
from consuming
sugar
because the
price
of sugary
goods
is not as high as other
products
such
as electronic machines and computers and sugary addiction can not be healed by raising the
price
of
products
.
First,
people
can not significantly reduce the amount of
sugar
consumption because it is not extremely expensive. Take candies
for example
, if their
price
doubled suddenly, it would increase from 1 dollar to 2 dollars,
thus
its impact is not huge for adults.
Second,
sugar
lovers may purchase
goods
including
sugar
regardless of the
price
.
For instance
, one of my friends is a chocolate jumky and he bought even luxury chocolates which are more expensive than high-quality Chinese food. In conclusion, the selling amount of sugary
products
can not be controlled because their original
price
is not highly expensive
people
can not be afforded and
sugar
-addicted
people
can not control it regardless of its
price
. In
this
regard, I strongly believe that making sugary
products
more expensive can not encourage
people
to consume less
sugar
.
