Dear Sonia, Congratulations on completing half of a century of your life and I hope you are doing great.I am writing
this
to apologize for being absent from your birthday party. To be completely honest,I had to attend my younger son's School meeting which was unfortunately on the same day as your special occasion.
Firstly
,I thought about letting you know about
this
,but I felt that it could spoil your mood,so I decided not to tell you. Being your Cousin,I can never think about not giving any treat on
this
fruition occurrence.
Therefore
,I have reserved a table for both of us at a Chinese restaurant in the city next Friday and Personally,I believe that it is better late than never. My sweetie Cousin, let me know if you can make it up next Friday.I am looking to hear from you in the coming days. Best regards, Rajan

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
