The graph below shows the average number of UK commuters travelling each day by car, bus or train between 1970 and 2030.
The line graph illustrates how many travellers use 3 separate means of transport to commute daily during the period from 1970 to 2030.
It is clear that
travelling by car is the most popular form of transport throughout the years. The number of people in the UK who uses trains
also
witnesses a growth,
whereas
the figure for those using
buses
declines considerably. In 1970, about 5
million
commuters used cars to travel around, compared to only 2
million
and 4
million
of those who took trains and
buses
respectively. Over the next decade, the distribution in all 3 modes remained unchanged. From that year to 2020, both car and train commuting experienced an upward tendency
while
the opposite was true for
buses
.  By 2030, the quantity of travellers using their own cars is expected to rise to nearly 9
million
. The figure for those people who take trains is
also
predicted to increase to approximately 5
million
.
However
, the trend of using
buses
seems to be less widely used. It is thought to see a drop to under 3
million
commuters.
