You are staying at your friend’s house who is traveling to another country. A recent storm damaged the house. Write a letter to your friend And say: What happened and when, What was damaged in the house, What needs to be done about it

Dear friend, I hope
this
letter finds you well during your travels. I am currently staying at your house, and I wanted to inform you about an unfortunate event that took place recently. A severe storm swept through the area the
last
Sunday, causing some serious damage to your beloved home. The thunderstorm struck in the late evening, bringing strong winds, torrential rain, and hail. Unfortunately, your house was not spared from its wrath.
As a result
, several areas and items within the house suffered some damage. The most significant one occurred to the roof. The intense winds dislodged a few shingles, leading to leaks in various rooms.
Although
I have done my best to minimize the water damage by placing buckets and towels in the affected areas, it is crucial to address
this
issue promptly to prevent
further
deterioration and potential mould growth.
Additionally
, a large tree branch fell onto the backyard fence, causing it to collapse. The fence now requires repairs or replacement to restore its security and privacy. Fortunately, the fallen branch has not done any other structures or utilities on the property. In the basement, I noticed that rainwater seeped in through cracks in the foundation, resulting in some minor flooding. I have taken steps to mitigate the water accumulation by using a shop vacuum to remove the excess water and mud.
However
, it is advisable to have a professional inspect the foundation and undertake any necessary repairs to prevent future intrusion and potential structural issues.
Finally
, a power outage was caused by fallen electric poles, which lasted for approximately four days.
However
, the electricity has since been restored, and all systems are functioning correctly. I hope to get your reply soon. Regards, Raman

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
