, there is a debate about whether paying taxes is sufficient for taxpayers to fulfil their obligations as members of the country. Some claim that paying taxes is a significant enough contribution. They consider themselves to be good citizens as long as they have paid the amount of money required by the law. It is the responsibility of the government to use those funds to make the country function and address social issues. These folks place an emphasis on financial contributions and see other forms of civic duty as unnecessary.

, it is argued that citizens have a broader range of responsibilities beyond being taxed.

, through their engagement in voluntary work, taxpayers have the ability to create positive change and make a valuable contribution to their
