Many students find it difficult to concentrate or pay attention at school. What are the reasons? What could be done to solve this problem?
Nowadays, several
students
do not concentrate during classes and are not paying attention to the teachers. This
essay will discuss the main reasons for this
state of affairs including the influence of social media. In addition
to that, this
essay will also
suggest solutions to these problems with a focus on different teaching methods.
The youngest generations grow up with the influence of smartphones and social media. For example
, when they use Instagram or TikTok every video only lasts for just a few minutes. If the video or picture is not interesting, they can just skip those and continue to watch new posts within a few seconds. The concentration span is frighteningly low which also
has an influence on the daily life of students
, especially in school. Therefore
, in order to prevent students
from having low concentration the teachers but also
parents can use different methods like drinking more water, sports exercises and meditation during classes.
Monotonous teaching like frontal teaching leads to children not following class. They get bored easily and don´t keep up with the content of the lessons
or what the teacher is talking about. For the students
, an hour of history class feels like forever. Various methods can be used to counteract this
problem. For example
, when it comes to history lessons
the teacher could go to the museum with the students
, watch a movie about the topic, or plan trips to important locations such
as the KZ in Neugame near Hamburg. Furthermore
, the lessons
could be created more creatively with role plays or presentations.
I come to the conclusion that when students
don´t learn to concentrate and pay attention during the lessons
they will miss important information which is necessary for their future. To work against these problems, it is important to work on the concentration span of the children and plan creative and interactive lessons
