Some people think that to solve traffic and transportation problems, people should live in cities, instead of the countryside. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In the
last
few years, traffic
and transportation issues have become significant concerns in most countries. While
some people have argued that urbanization is the answer, I completely disagree with this
view because I believe that higher populations in the city not only lead to much more traffic
congestion but also
have adverse environmental consequences.
There are several reasons why urbanization is not the solution. To begin
with, growing populations in urban areas often exacerbate traffic
congestion. The higher density of people and vehicles leads to increased traffic
jams and longer commuting times. As an example, consider the city of Metropolis, one of the highest-density cities
, which experienced traffic
jams during rush hours, causing commuters to spend more time stuck in gridlock. Additionally
, the lack of physical spaces to accommodate the large rise of residents in cities
leads to inadequate housing and decreased overall
living standards. For instance
, research shows the number of high-rise apartments has risen in London in order to solve the limited space problem.
On the other hand
, the effect of encouraging country dwellers to live in cities
intensifies environmental issues. Urban living often affects negatively green spaces and ecosystems, which play a crucial role in mitigating air pollution. This
is illustrated by the concrete jungle consuming valuable land for constructing road networks, contributing to the loss of biodiversity and decreasing the overall
quality of the environment.
In conclusion, I believe that rural citizens should not migrate to cities
because the growing population in urban areas increases traffic
jams and has negative impacts on the environment.Submitted by Poseidous on
