The pie charts illustrate users' social
media
preferences over a 3-year period from 2011 to 2013. In general,
Facebook
remained the most popular social
media
platform over the three years,
although
its popularity declined slightly each year. In 2011,
Facebook
had the largest user base with a 59% share, which barely dropped by 10% the following year. By 2013, only 38% of respondents expressed a preference for
Facebook
over other social
media
channels. Twitter ranked just below
Facebook
with a considerable gap in 2011, which gradually decreased as the proportion of Twitter's followers steadily rose from 21% to 25%. A comparable trend was observed in other social
media
platforms. LinkedIn consistently drew more users and obtained 15% supporters in 2013. In 2011, Google+ and Pinterest had the same percentage of only 5%.
However
,
whereas
Pinterest only showed a minimal raise of 3%, the figure for Google+ almost tripled to 14%, making it the social
media
platform with the most significant increase among the five.
