SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT SOME STUDENTS SPEND A GAP YEAR DOING VOLUNTARY WORK OR PURSUING THEIR OWN INTERESTS BEFORE STARTING UNIVERSITY LIFE. DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE? GIVE EXAMPLES AND ILLUSTRATIONS TO SUPPORT YOUR IDEAS.

The passion for volunteer work among youngsters is increasing day by day and to participate in community services students opt to take a break of one year from their
education
before starting a university
education
. I completely disagree with
this
idea because a gap in studies can negatively affect the interest of children in
education
. In
this
essay, I will support my opinion with some examples before reaching a conclusion. To start with, taking a gap year from schooling can be strenuous for children when they come back to study because they have been away from it for a long time and they might have lost interest in a particular subject which will result in a lack of concentration and attentiveness.
For example
, if a student was interested in science in school but did volunteer in another field during the break,
then
it would be very hard for him to get back to the same field again or maybe he would not go with the same subjects for
further
education
. Another worth considering factor is the possibility of addiction to bad habits because they feel free and not supervised by the elderly every time. To explain, youngsters can be caught in contact with evil people who can lead the youngsters in the wrong direction which is not good for them.
In addition
, once they get into bad company, it is very difficult to escape which will ruin their future and they will never be able to get back to their study.
On the other hand
, a gap year can provide students an opportunity to advance their skills and knowledge if utilised in a proper way. They can gain an understanding of areas they are interested in and can back to college or university with a good knowledge of subjects but proper guidance and dedication are necessary.
To conclude
,
although
a break from study can be helpful for children to acquire more knowledge of subjects of their enthusiasm, I believe it is not necessary in all cases as there are chances of getting distracted and a decline in passion and concentration of students after coming back to university.
