Focusing on the incomers staying on board, the amount of visitors doubled after a year from 0.25 million
in 2010 to 0.5 million
in 2011. However
, there was a significant plummet in 2012 back to its initial rate in 2010. After the dramatic plunge in 2012, the number of visitors living onboard gradually rose over the period to 2 million
tourists in 2017 which surpassed the number of people staying on the land.
Moving on to the incomers staying on the island, it started with nearly 0.75 million
tourists in 2010 and moderately surged until 2013, hitting its all-time high of 1.5 million
visitors. Thereafter
, the trend flattened out over the period of 2013 to 2015. Although
there was a small drop of 0.25 million
in 2016, it went back to its retained rate of 1.5 million
