The line graph shows the global demand of different types of textile from 1980 to 2015.
The line graph displays the global
demand
for different types of fibre from 1980 to 2015. The fibres taken into account are polyester
, cotton
, cellulosic and wool and the demand
is measured in million
tons
.
Firstly
, it is clear that
polyester
has the highest growth with a stark increase right around 1995. Secondly
, the other two fibres, cotton
and cellulosic have seen slight increases in demand
over the years. Unlike the steep rise of polyester
, cotton
had a more gradual increase in demand
. Although
cellulosic saw a slight decline after 1985, fibre saw a rise in demand
near the millennium. Thirdly
, the only textile to have seen a visible decline is wool dropping to a slightly lower demand
level in 2015 than in 1980.
While
polyester
led the demand
in 2015 with almost 70 million
tons
, cotton
had the highest demand
in 1980 with more than 10 million
tons
. On the other hand
, the lowest demands have consistently been seen in the same textile: wool. Moreover
, the demand
levels have remained at approximately 2 million
tons
despite the rise and decline over the years.Submitted by insighttribez on
