The following maps compare the development of departmental buildings at Queen Mary Hospital in the years 1960, 1980, and 2000.

it is clear that
many departments expanded significantly throughout the years. Earlier there were fewer buildings in the area but as the years progressed, new constructions happened and the older ones were demolished. In 1960, to the west, there was a shopping block but in 1980, half of its area was replaced by the construction of a cancer centre and the rest was occupied by a pharmacy.

an extension of the main hospital.
