The line graph illustrates the average weight of
meat
a person consumes weekly in a particular European country from 1979 to 2004.
Overall
,
while
beef and lamb
consumption
went down during the given period, people consumed more chicken in 2004 than in 1979. It is noteworthy that the
consumption
of fish
meat
has remained essentially unchanged. Beef was the highest consumed type of
meat
at the beginning of the period, with around 220
grams
consumed per week.
This
number
then
fluctuated until 1989 when it fell into decline. Lamb
consumption
similarly
displayed the same downward trend, falling from 150
grams
to its lowest figure of approximately 55
grams
in 2004. Contrarily, chicken
consumption
maintained a steady increase over the years. The first year that chicken
consumption
overtook that of beef was in 1989 to become the largest sort of
meat
consumed in that country. Fish,
however
, showed a minuscule decrease
that is
not worth mentioning. It levelled off between 60 and 40
grams
.
