task response
Give a clear answer in the first lines. Say how far you agree or do not agree, then keep the same view in the whole essay.
task response
Develop each main point. Explain why social media can help people, and also explain why it can cause harm. Add real, clear examples, such as people finding work, learning about local groups, or losing private information.
task response
Write more than one short paragraph. The question asks about both people and society, so give one full part for each.
coherence and cohesion
Use a simple plan: introduction, one part about people, one part about society, and a short ending.
coherence and cohesion
Start each part with one clear main idea. Then add reasons and an example before moving to the next idea.
coherence and cohesion
Use linking words to show the order of ideas: First, Also, However, For example, and In the end. Do not repeat “it is not that bad” many times; explain the idea instead.
task response
You answer both parts of the question: the effect on people and the effect on society.
task response
You give a clear positive view: social media can help people become known and learn about other groups.
coherence and cohesion
You try to show both sides by saying that social media can be bad but can also be useful.
Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
