The internet has greatly increased our access to information. To what extent do you think this is a good thing? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

I believe increased accessibility to
information
through the
internet
is positive. Because people form their opinions based on
information
and the more they have it the better it is. One good example of the use of the
internet
can be the khan academy. It started out as a personal teaching tool, but soon expanded into a huge knowledge sharing platform, helping millions of people around the world. I have personally used platform
such
as
Youtube
Suggestion
YouTube
to learn about new topics that I had very limited knowledge.
Also
, people in remote areas are now able to have access to online courses and learn about subjects which were not available to them previously. Governments around the world are
also
using the
internet
to increase the reach of their services to the people. People now have more access to
information
regarding various government services and most of the services are now
also
provided online. As
information
about different services gets more accessible opportunities for corrupt officials to exploit people gets reduced. The
internet
has
also
enabled people to access multiple source of news and verify their authenticity as well.
Also
, regional news that were previously under reported gets more attention due to their publication on the regional newspapers online. National newspapers
also
highlight regional news on their news portal, as there is no page constraint when it comes to publishing news online.
That is
why I believe the benefits of the
internet
out weights its dangers.
