It has been said that people who read for pleasure have more developed imaginations and better language skills than people who prefer to watch TV. Do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, reading and watching
TV

are two of the most important one’s leisure activities.
However
Linking Words
, it opens a controversial question as to whether reading or watching
TV
Use synonyms
would enhance people’s imaginations and
language
Use synonyms
-related skills. From my perspective, I believe that reading certainly brings more benefits than watching
TV
Use synonyms
due to the following reasons. Reading for pleasure, on the one hand, can allow people to improve better imaginations and
language

skills.
Firstly
Linking Words
, reading which is considered to be an active method of knowledge acquisition allows readers to create their own characters or construct different interpretations of a text. Take Harry Potter which is a series of fantasy novels as an example, it brings readers to another world of wizards and magicians so that they have to use their creativity and
imagination

to visualize their characters.
Secondly
Linking Words
, reading can

do wonders for one’s
language

skills. By doing
this
Linking Words
, people can boost not only their vocabulary, but different grammatical structures.
For example
Linking Words
, one can pause at any moment to ponder a word from different contexts- which is of paramount importance when learning a new
language

.
On the other hand
Linking Words
, watching
TV

does little to increase people’s
imagination

.
Although

it is undeniable that
TV

offers lively and colourful images than books, viewers can only watch passively the things given by
TV

programs;
hence

, they use their
imagination

little.
Besides
Linking Words
, in today’s digital world,
TV

is full of advertisements which sometimes distract someone from what they are watching and
therefore

it contributes to losing one’s focus.
However
Linking Words
, people can improve their listening and speaking skills via watching
TV

programs
such

as BBC News, which can affect people’s way of communication.
As a result

, watching
TV

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
