Most people believe that stricter punishment should be given for traffic offences .To what extent do you agree

The increase in the number of accidents on roads has become a major concern. Many people believe that strict punishments should be given for violation of
traffic
rules. I partially agree with
this
statement. According to my view, some other measures should
also
be taken along with strict punishment to eradicate

offences.
To begin
with, our law already had some well-defined rules and penalties for minor mistakes and cancellation of licenses for major offences. Imprisonment is
also
given for serious accidents.
For instance
, the Indian government has imposed a strict penalty on people who drink and drive. The outcome of
this
act is tremendous. The new rules of the Tamil Nadu government for non helmet wearers have shown a huge impact on
traffic
offenders. A person who violates

rules more than 3 times will be fined double the amount of money that has to be paid

fines
. One is by educating people about
traffic
laws. Many people do not have proper knowledge about the pros and cons of
traffic
. The government should take

to provide awareness campaigns about road safety and law. Another measure is installing surveillance cameras on the road. People follow the
traffic
rules to avoid being caught in the surveillance camera.
Finally
, the driving license should only be provided to people who have undertaken training and completed the driving test.
This
not the case in all countries where some aspirants bribe the officials and get a license issued to them. Considering all the arguments, I conclude that strict punishments alone cannot control

offences
. Some other measures must
also
be taken to reduce road accidents.
