Some people think studying from the past offers no benefits to today’s life, while others believe that history is a valuable source of information for us. Discuss both views and give our own opinion.

Many people hold the view that studying
history
is of zero value, others,
however
, argue that the past events have many important lessons to learn from. In my opinion,

the past not only brings us many useful

helps us avoid mistakes and move forward faster. On the one hand, many students claim that
history
is boring and useless because they

For example
, students are usually made to learn dates and names of historical events, these kinds of information are hard to remember and cannot be used under any circumstance.
As a result
, they lose the interest to search form the past. Another reason why
history
is neglected is because many people think that those things happened centuries ago are completely different in today's world.
On the other hand
,
history
is a compulsory subject in many countries. People who have some background knowledge understand that historical events give people priceless experiences that are tested by time. Take the COVID-19 epidemic
for example
. Because doctors and nurses have learned from previous epidemics that happened many times in the past, when a new epidemic comes, they know exactly what to do and how to deal with it.
Thus
, millions of people are cured and the government takes the correct step to prevent it from spreading.
Furthermore

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
