Social media addiction: Many people believe that social networking sites such as Facebook have a negative impact on both individuals and society. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The effect of social networking sites on society is alarming. Social networking platforms have become very popular among the people of different age groups. Most of the people believe that these platforms put a bad impact on the people and society. According to me, it is true that Social media exert a detrimental effect on public and communities.
To begin
with, Social sites affect the mental health of the person. Studies show that people who regularly use these media platforms
such
as Facebook, reports high stress level which contributes to serious mental problems. They spend their leisure
time
on networking sites being sitting inside their house whole day, which leads them to avoid outdoor activities. People waste their precious
time
on these platforms, that can be utilized on the other activities. According to some researches, the people from the age group of 18 - 25 years, are more addicted to social media, which
further
affects their studies and reports a bad performance in school. Apart from
this
, internet sites
such
as Facebook,
also
cause the imbalance between the personal and professional life. As most the people engage their
time
on social media
as a result
the face to face communication between the individuals has been reduced.
Moreover
, these networking sites misleads the community with false information because nobody knows whether the information is true or not. It
also
reported that sites
such
as Facebook, steals and sells the personal information of the individual. At the end it is concluded that, people and society are negatively influenced by these public networking sites. It is really important that people should limit the usage of internet sites and spend their
time
engaging in other activities so they can get a quality of life and more importantly a healthy mind.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
