Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.

The issues of whether it is beneficial to pursue a new
language
have been raising a lot of debates. Some might say that to be

skilful
in another
language
can bring tremendous advantages towards an individual in the entertainment and social life. Others insist on the view that the only reason to learn a
second
language
is to travel or work abroad. Standing from general viewpoints,
this
essay will discuss both views and I personally agree with the former opinion.
To begin
with, there are several reasons of those who want to be proficient in another
language
is because of their admiration for foreign celebrities and want to get in touch with people from different regions of the world.
First
of all, the admiration of international idols seems to be the most inspirational motive at the present time. ‘Korean wave’ would be an appropriate example for
this
since the increasing number of Korean celebrities and movies results in the dramatic jump of people who

Secondly
, learning another
language
can improve your social life tremendously. By communicating in an international
language
such
as English, people can connect with others from different countries despite of ethnicity and
language
barrier.
On the other hand
, others claim that the only reason to gain some knowledge about a new
language
is to be employed and educated in foreign countries. It is undeniable that
language
serves the purpose of living in other countries,
however
, knowing another
language
can
also
help some people to learn other cultures and scientists to research in the linguistic and civilization field due the fact that one
language
is usually embedded with its culture.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
