Some people believe that capital punishment should not be used. Others, however, argue that it should be allowed for the most serious crimes. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

In the salad days of the millennium, the society is polarized into two groups almost equally regarding the notion that whether giving
death
punishment
is acceptable or not. Different people have a distinct mindset, some claim that capital
punishment
should be given to only serious
offenses
a lack of politeness; a failure to show regard for others; wounding the feelings or others
offences
,
such
as murder. In my opinion, I agree with the above point of view, and the subsequent paragraphs would elucidate the reasons for my view. To commence with the
first
notion, some people assert that the
death
penalty is a heavy
punishment
, and it should be avoided as much as possible.
Firstly
, despite committing a serious crime, we must not treat any criminal the way animals treat each other.
That is
to say, we must show humanity to everyone in
this
world, no matter what crimes are committed by the criminals. If people do not do that, there will be no difference between human beings and animals. Another reason is that giving life or
death
should be the decision of God alone, and,
therefore
, people should never take anyone's life. Shifting towards the
second
school of thought, some claim that capital
punishment
should only be used for serious criminals. In order to maintain law and order, and avoid bringing
jungle rule
Suggestion
the jungle rule
in our community, governments should set tough laws for crimes,
such
as murder. These kinds of
death
punishment
inject fear in the people, and criminals would have to think twice before killing any person.
Consequently
, the crime rate will reduce significantly.
Also
, society should understand that there are certain
offenses
a line of approach
avenues
offences
that must not be committed, as doing so would cost their lives. In conclusion,
although
the
death
penalty is a good way to instigate fear in the masses so as to control the crime rate, I personally feel that it should not be practiced, since the basic characteristic of a human being is kindness towards everyone, which makes masses separate from all other living beings on
this
planet.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
