School childern are becoming far too dependent on computers. This is having alarming effect on raeding and writing skills. Teachers need to avoid using computers in the classroom at all costs and go back to teaching basic study skills. Do you agree or disagree
Learning institutions have been encouraging children to
use
modern technology, such
as computers, to help with their studies. Even though this
affects their literacy skills detrimentally, I think that, overall, it leads to a positive development in thechildren's
educational process.

To begin
with, integrating technology with education to take notes and read through lecture slides makes the learning process far easier and efficient. Diagrams and illustrations could be drawn with an accuracy that is
difficult to achieve while taking hand-written notes. Moreover
, not only can these youngsters use
multiple coloured texts to highlight important notes, but they can also
use
voice recognition to jot down the teacher's exact words. These could then
be revised at home at their own pace. To illustrate, it is essential to have precise information when learning subjects such
as "Law and Order."
On the other hand
, if instructors were to put a ban on computers during their sessions, it would encourage students to develop their reading and writing abilities. Since they are so used to typing with a keyboard, children nowadays cannot write correct sentences without artificial intelligence features, including autocorrect
and autofill
. Additionally
, because they do not have access to these when they write with a pen, children find it challenging to identify grammatical errors. For example
, it is quite difficult for people to score well in a language proficiency test when they are unfamiliar with the rules and the vocabulary of the language.
To conclude, using a laptop in a classroom can have an adverse effect on children in terms of their language abilities. Nevertheless
, I think that the use
of advanced technology in the teaching environment should be continued as it has the potential to make a child's learning process convenient.Submitted by Severus Snape on
