Some people think that prison sentences should not be used in dealing with criminals. Education and job training should be used instead. To what extent do you agree on disagree?

People hold different views about punishing a criminal. Some believe that
instead
of
prison
sentences, judiciary people should provide academic knowledge or teach some crafts to criminals. In my opinion, I partially agree with the view, as serious criminal offenders should be put behind bars. On the one hand, criminals committing their
first
petty crimes like stealing or forgery should not be put behind bars.
This
is because, in many instances, an individual is
force

forced
to commit
such
crimes because of poverty or unemployment. There is a high probability that
such
offenders will not repeat its crime, if they are given employment.
Therefore
, there should be a provision in law where
instead
of putting petty criminals behind bars, judiciary system should provide on
job training
Suggestion
the job training
.
For instance
, in India, the punishment for
first
time offenders include carpentry and other furniture work.
On the other hand
, serious repetitive offenders should be sentenced to
prison
.
This
is because the motive behind
crimes
Suggestion
the crimes
like rapes or kidnapping is to purposely inflict pain on a victim. Some criminals get a sense of
fullfillment
a feeling of satisfaction at having achieved your desires
fulfilment
after involving in
such
heinous crimes and they are a liability to society.
Therefore
, for the benefit of society
such
serious criminals should be put behind bars.
For example
, a serial killer was convicted and sentenced to
prison
in the UK, as he received a bail after committing
first
murder.
This
shows that
prison
sentences are an appropriate option to deal with
such
criminals. In conclusion, criminals committing heinous crimes should be sentenced to
prison
, whereas petty criminals be given a chance to rectify their mistake.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
