Individuals can do nothing to improve the environment; only governments and large companies can make a difference. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Environmental issues are increasingly serious these days. A variety of people state that only governments and big companies but not an individual are responsible for finding alternatives. From my perspective, I completely disagree with
this
point of view for numerous reasons. The environment is mainly devastated by human activities;
therefore
, an individual is required to realize his missions to keep the living habitat clean and green. A simple manner seems to be insignificant in comparison with
such
negative effects;
however
, when people join

hands
together, an enormous difference will be made. It is obvious that throwing a bottle of water into a bin is a tiny act, but if everyone in a community proceeds in the same way, the amount of rubbish in that area will be immensely decelerated.
In addition
, a person is a fundamental factor leading to behaviours changing among a myriad of large scale companies. A couple of years ago, an owner of a Vietnamese grocery store had promoted a green campaign whose aim was to encourage customers to use canvas tote bags and all products would be twenty percent off. Amazingly, the trend had gained its popularity among not only users but
also
prosperous companies.
As a result
, the number of plastic bags consumed was approximately
next
to nothing in only six months later. To put it in a nutshell, an individual should be aware of his responsibility for the living habitat since a considerable alteration will be made if one takes action seriously to protect the environment.
