Nowadays governments are investing more in public transport such as buses and trains rather than in building new roads. What are the reasons for this? Is this a positive or negative development?

In the recent past, authorities are keen in developing public
transport
rather than building roads. One among the many reasons is the increasing pollution due to Traffic and I certainly believe that promoting public
transport
is a positive initiative taken by the
government
. I will substantiate my viewpoint with relevant examples in the subsequent paragraphs.
Firstly
, because of more people resorting to private
transport
, we have been facing a lot of traffic congestion in the recent years.
For instance
, Bangalore is a metropolitan city in India which is extremely populated and famous for heavy traffic issues. Commuting to nearby places during
office
time
might take a few hours. Many
office
workers prefer taking a metro or bus to their workplace as they feel they can reach faster than through roads. Apart from cities like Mumbai and Delhi, they introduced metros in Bangalore and it was very successful.
Secondly
,
Accept space
,
the pollution emitted from these vehicles is detrimental to health and in the long run they cause severe ailments
such
as dust allergy, cancer etc.
For example
, according to a recent survey conducted by WHO in India, it was found out that the air in cities like Delhi and Mumbai has hazardous pollutants and is not safe to inhale. Due to which they recommended to wear masks while on the road.
Hence
the
government
has tried to promote the use of public
transport which

transport, which
will benefit the health of the individuals and
also
raise
government
's income.
However
, Using public transports has its own demerits. Travelling will not be very comfortable because mostly during
office
hours the buses and trains will be packed.
Also there
Accept comma addition
Also, there
is a particular
time
schedule and if you missed boarding the bus or train at that
time
, you will have to wait for the
next
one to arrive which might take a longer
time
and you might end up reaching
office
late. Many
office
workers prefer commuting by car because it makes their travel comfortable and tireless. In Conclusion,
although
public
transport
poses a lot of issues I believe it is still a better option for travelling and people who commute regularly must avail these options that the
government
has provided
instead
of relying on private
transport
which in the long run can affect the environment and health of the people negatively.
