Is the mental strength important for success in sports or is it more important to have strong and fit people in sports. Discuss both views and give an opinion.

Athletics is an event which requires that participants must be healthy, not only in their minds but in their bodies as well. Whether or not intellectual capacity should take precedence over
psychomotor
skill has been of much debate.
This

A school of thought has argued that athletes must be mentally balanced individuals if they were to qualify and compete in the sports world safely. Several rules and guidelines are put in place to ensure order and a fair system of judging, which require that participants must have a firm grasp before their compliance can be demanded and the safety of fellow gamer guaranteed.
For instance
, in ocean deep swimming, which requires plunging a whopping depth of 1,000, an oxygen tank is a safety pre-requisite gadget, and the technical know-how of

manoeuvring is what would keep a swimmer from drowning. Clearly, the importance of a sound mind cannot be divorced from the safety it guarantees a sportsman in the face of hazards peculiar to that vocation.
On the other hand
, some have argued that body agility is more important than mental processing. In a 1980 research-led and carried out by Professor Emeritus, Charles Sway, of the Oakland Athletics University, two groups of women, one with thinking faculties and the other, physical strength respectively, were juxtaposed. While the women who took time to process the travelling path of the discuss failed woefully for lack of

recorded a win, because they had the commensurate physical capacity to sway and fling the discuss 5 times more than their thin and thinking counterparts. Proponents of mental ability over what the body does, underestimate the place of activity, not realising that thought without action is useless, and what sport requires is activity. While it is imperative to gather body mass for certain games, zeal without knowledge could be destructive. A proper understanding of the detailed requirement of gaming activities would reveal that a stable mind is what helps channel innate energy in the right direction, making it a successful activity.
