What are the pros and cons of using public transportation?

Public
transport
has become an essential service and one of the world’s main means of
transportation
.
However
, using public
transportation
has both merits and demerits, which are discussed below. It is undeniable that public
transport
has some weaknesses. The
first
big cons when it comes to public
transportation
is that people

with the fixed schedule of the system.
For instance
, the buses do not always take passengers to their exact locations, which means they have to walk home. Another disadvantage of commuting by public
transport
is the risk of harassment or crime. When there is a large concentration of people on public buses or trains, criminal offences
such
as robbery, grope or rape are given rise to happen. Despite its demerits, public
transport
brings a lot benefits for citizens and societies.
First
of all, it is worth considering using buses, trams or trains when the price for using those is affordable and stays the same whatever short-distance or long-distance people want to travel. It is because public
transport
like buses are subsidized by the government. Most importantly, the existence of public
transportation
is eco-friendly. Since a public

Thus, it
helps to protect the environment.
Furthermore
, if the utilisation of public
transport
increases, there will be a decline in traffic congestion as buses or trains can carry a large number of passengers. Taking everything into consideration, I do believe the advantages of using public
transport
outweighed the drawbacks. Travelling by public
transport
must be encouraged by the government as one of its tremendous benefits is saving the environment.
