The only way to reduce the amount of traffic in cities today is by reducing the need for people to travel from home for work, education or shopping. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is argued the only way to decrease
traffic
in cities today is reducing commute time to
work
and shortening travels for education or shopping.
This
essay somehow agrees with
this
,
although
there are better solutions which will be discussed. I believe the solution to high
traffic
is much more complex and, even though could be fixed with the approach mentioned, it would generate other problems in the society. It is logical if everybody had a short commute or had a plaza nearby their homes the time to get to places would be much shorter.
However
,
that is
not easily achievable since one's
work
might be far from any groceries or schools. I could serve as a very good example for
this
thesis, considering I have a very short commune and live close to groceries, schools, and even a college.
Although
this
is the case for me, I understand it is not possible for all people. Changing homes, after you buy one, is a much higher hassle than switching jobs. The solution for
this
problem would involve not only a single fix, but society to thrive together to lessen the
traffic
.
For instance
, people that already live nearby their
work
could start using a bicycle to go to
work
, whereas individuals living far away could use public transportation. In conclusion,
traffic
in cities is a complex problem which involves a multitude of common
work
to solve it,
for example
bikes, public transportation, and even
traffic
engineering. If everybody
work
Suggestion
works
together we can lessen the
traffic
starting as soon as now and if following the proposed solutions even the environment would benefit from it.
