Some people believe that students should be taught international news as a subject at school. Others feel that this would be a waste of valuable school time. Discuss both views, and give your opinion.

Nowadays, there has been a booming increase in globalisation for the past 20 years, as people have increased opportunities to travel, study and work, as well as live abroad. There are social demands and needs to inject international studies into schools’ curriculum. Some people believe that it is necessary to introduce global news as a syllabus;
however
, others disagree. In
this
essay, I will examine both sides of the debate, as well as give my view. As for those who believe that general

is unnecessary at secondary school level, there are valid reasons.
Firstly
, the purpose of secondary schools is to teach students fundamental
knowledge
and skills,
such
as mathematics, English and science;
such
knowledge
and skills form the solid foundation for students to develop and build on during their higher education and ensuing careers.
Secondly
, students are already under the enormous pressure of study, as well as a steadily expanding syllabus; introducing a new course on current affairs may result in even higher pressure.
Furthermore
, if students have to spend additional time on
this
subject, the time they can spend on other important subjects will decrease.
Moreover
, the complexity of some international problems may surpass their understanding, which may make them confused.
In contrast
, other people may hold the notion that studying international headlines is paramount for

youngsters. Awareness of what is happening in the world is especially relevant to us, as people are more connected to each other than ever before.
For instance
, the COVID-19 pandemic, Brazilian rain forest fires and global warming issues matter to all of us on

planet.
Besides
, understanding the global economy and politics

help students open up their eyes and broaden their horizons so that they can develop their perspective of the world for jobs and business. In conclusion, though implementing global

to school syllabuses would add considerable pressure to students, I believe the benefits of a deeper insight into the world situation outweigh the drawbacks.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
