Nowadays international tourism is one of the biggest industries in the world. Unfortunately, it creates tension rather than understanding between people from different cultures. To what extent do you agree with this opinion?

International
tourism
is a multibillion-dollar industry that greatly boosts the economic growth of many nations. While I agree
this
industry can create tension at times, I firmly believe it
also
facilitates mutual understanding between people from divergent cultures. Admittedly, cross-border travels will lead to cultural tension in several cases. One of the main reasons for
such
issue is visitors’ lack of respect for local traditions, which in turn attributes to their misdeeds.
For example
, Logan Paul, a well-known Youtuber, recently paid a visit to Japan and showed a contemptuous disregard for
this
country by pestering local residents and even perpetuating racist stereotype of Asian people. His disrespectful behaviour has been confronted by waves of indignation from not only the

Japanese, but

people in many parts of the world, causing conflicts between locals and foreigners. Global
tourism
,
on the other hand
, can act as a catalyst to promote understanding and social relationships among people from different cultures. Visitors who travel beyond their national borders are inclined to acquire an authentic insight into diverse cultures, including cuisines, festivals, and customs, to name but a few.
As a result
, there is a high likelihood that these tourists will discard their prejudice about local traditions,
thus embrace

cultural differences, contributing to the establishment of mutual understanding between people.
Similarly
, cross-border
tourism
can
also
positively affect the locals’ conceptions of foreigners through cultural exchange. Indeed, residents tend to have an open attitude when interacting with people from various nations.
This
, yet again, strengthens social relationships between people around the globe. In conclusion, since
tourism
is a way through which people of different backgrounds connect with each other, conflicts appear to be inevitable,
likewise
the fostering of intercultural understanding.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
