Many believe that technological advancements have led to a decline in criminal incidents as the culprit can be easily traced. I do agree that
this
must have played an important role in curbing the menace, but I
also
think that
this
would not have been achievable without the enforcement of strict laws and regulations. The
scare
a number or letter indicating quality (especially of a student's performance)
score
of repercussions would have definitely instilled a sense of fear in delinquent minds, who may think twice or thrice before indulging into criminal activities. Technological advancements coupled with strict protocols and harsh punishments will
further
deter them from following
this
path. In a data released by the Supreme Court of India, about 30% of the cases in the 1970s could not be concluded, because of lack of proof, and
hence
had to be closed.
This
figure has decreased substantially to only about 12% now.
Such
considerable drop in percentages reflect the effectiveness of these cutting-edge technologies employed to catch the assailant. With the advancements of technology in the field of Genetics and Forensics, it has become very easy to trace the culprit. A single strand of hair, a drop of blood or a single fingerprint can plead you guilty in the court of law. With the help of
