Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Nowadays, the question of whether advertising still has a profound impact on

Although
people may have developed habits of avoiding adverts, it seems to me that they still achieve their desired effect on the whole. On the one hand, it is true that advertising has become so pervasive that people tend to circumvent it.
First
, since people nowadays are being bombarded with a myriad of commercials, they tend to become desensitized to those ads. In fact, purchasers are likely to rely on others’ comments and feedback on the products they want to buy
instead
of resorting to what are marketed, especially when they shop online.
Second
, by becoming more conscious and wiser, consumers would no longer pay attention to adverts surrounding them. Plenty of evidence suggests that viewers have developed the common practice of skipping advertisements on social platforms, especially auto-playing video ads on

However
, I am convinced that advertising is still effective when it comes to convincing customers to buy products. The
first
reason is that in order to tempt viewers, mostly the youth, to make a purchasing decision, advertisers have paid a tremendous amount of money for

This
means that brand representatives will attract a vast number of their loyal fans who are willing to buy the marketed items for the sake of imitating or simply pleasing the idols without their real demands.
Moreover
, a number of commercial firms have adopted repetitive strategies on social networking sites like Facebook or Instagram and other means of mass communication

as TV or radio;

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
