You recently did a short cookery course. The cookery school has asked for your feedback on this course. Wtire a letter to the course director at the cookery school. In your letter - describe what you enjoyed about the course - say how much cookery you have done since the course - suggest another cookery course you would like the school to offer

I am writing
this
letter to recommend the cookery school to offer a course for preparing confections and icecreams. The reason for
this
request is that I received a great response from my family about my cooking skills which I had learnt recently from your school, and I would like to let you know that I have learnt many useful tips and techniques in chopping vegetables. Mostly ,I liked the friendly nature and the patience of the chefs who taught choosing the ingredients, garnishing the recipes and how to increase the taste of the meals. After completing the short term course,I started

initially
the feedback was not quite good, but I have improved day by day. Now,I have started inventing new recipes and received a great level of applause from my dear ones. So I would be grateful if you could arrange another course to excel in preparing the desserts. Yours faithfully, Manju.

The Greeting

Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.

Always start an informal letter in the ways:

  • Dear + name
  • Hi / Hello + name

‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.

For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:

  • Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
  • Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
