Governments give a lot of support to artists, even though some people think it is a waste of money that could have been used elsewhere. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Famous artists have been admired all over the world and in some societies, these professionals receive significant financial support from the government.
However
, there has been a lot of discussions regarding
this
subject and some people will argue that the payment spent with artists should be used for other matters. On the one hand, it is true that the amount of support given to
this
population is high and in some developing and poor countries where the money is needed to give the basic backing for the society, it is unfair that artists get paid so well while some people struggle to buy food.
For example
, in Brazil soap opera artists can make huge salaries and receive by law a percentage of money from the government as well.
In addition
, the poor community that lives on the favelas don't have ash to pay for a house, utilities and food, and end up committing crimes to survive.
On the other hand
, with the advance in technology, some classes of artists had an important decrease in their gains.
For example
, musicians and singers lost their source of payment with the introduction of new computer programs that people can use to download pieces of music without buying CDs on stores.
Then
, for
this
type of professionals, the financial help provided by the government can be considered fair. In my opinion, artists receive substantial financial help that could have better use for society.
Furthermore
, backing for poor people, better salaries for
first
-line workers and investments on infrastructure are much more useful and essential for the population.
