One of the consequences of improved medical care is that people are living longer and life expectancy is increasing. Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?

Over the past 100 years,
life
expectancy of people has increased dramatically due to improved
health
care
. Yes
that is
a very big advantage to humanity but does it really?
Firstly
, I would like to show a simple calculation: the average retirement age in my country is 60 and
life
expectancy is around 69 so working all their
life
to enjoy 9 years? Does
this
look fair? Even though the world works that way, those 9 years are not enjoying perhaps it is their worst nightmare of unhealthy years of
life
.
Although
health
care
does help to extend
life
, hospitals have become a new era of elderly co-living where the most of elderly people do spend their
last
years with hefty bills on their body and that’s a huge price to pay in the struggling time.
Secondly
, the impact on the families of elderly people who take
care
of them is very intense. In usual cases old people are very dependent on their caretakers. In
this
busy world always someone has to be dedicated to take
care
of elderly always, of course there are few healthy and active in their eighties but for the majority living with all complications is not at all advantageous.
For example
: My grandmother who is in her seventies does get into a lot of pain in her legs and in many parts of body. She has to take constant tablets and medicines and she keeps telling me that it's better to die than live with these pains and suffer. To sum up, Improved
health
care
treatment is an advantage and does everybody want to live longer? Apparently nobody wants to live a
life
of pain and to trouble their family. Everybody wants to live happy old age. Einstein once said “It is tasteless to prolong
life
artificially” so
this
development in the field of
health
sciences is advantageous to certain limits and in my opinion it will never outweigh the disadvantage.
