Nowadays media should include more good news in their publications. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience
In recent times, the number of negative
news
that is
being published seems to be on a steep increase. I do not believe that this
should be the case. While I agree that there is a plethora of bad news
to report
, my opinion is that there is a cornucopia of good to report
also
. This
essay will discuss why I think so, in addition
, it will state personal experiences that have informed this
decision.
First
, a clear reason why new and traditional media should report
more good news
is the increase in the number of individuals struggling with their mental health. Until a few years ago, the topic of mental health was not very common and we used to disregard illnesses like anxiety and depression. A major cause of these is the number of sad things we hear and see when we watch television and read newspapers. It has become expedient for people to pay more attention to the content they consume. However
, they would not need to if more positive things were focused on in the news
.
To illustrate this
is a personal experience of mine. During the peak of the pandemic, while we were locked down, everything in the news
was about the ever teeming statistic of positive cases and the death tolls. Owing to this
, I suffered a mental breakdown and had to undergo therapy. More recently, although
there is still information like that, there are more good things to report
about the development of a vaccine and patients getting better. There is also
more focus on safety precautions. This
has been a particularly welcome development.
In conclusion, albeit the unfortunate events around the world which need to be reported, there are ways that these events can be cast in s
ignificantly better light and with a hint of hope as opposed to gloom and despair.Add an article
