Traditional food is being replaced by international fast food. This has negative effect on family and society. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Never before has the international fast-food industry been so prosperous. While enjoying various foreign flavours and great
convenience
, some people realize that
convenience
foods
are gradually taking the place of traditional
foods
and bring severe impacts to households and
society
. From my perspective, the negative effects of
this
transition outweigh its benefits. Without doubts, the main reason for which global fast
foods
have largely replaced traditional categories is that they tend to be more attractive and delicious for the majority of citizens. As a consequence, the satisfaction of residents can be greatly improved. More importantly, one of the major benefits of consuming fast
foods
is its
convenience
.
This
factor is particularly significant since nowadays, labour forces are prone to be busier and busier. Unlike traditional
foods
which typically require a longer cooking time, fast
foods
can be usually cooked in a few minutes, by which the time wasted waiting for the food can be reduced considerably.
Nevertheless
, the rapid development of the fast-food industry is detrimental to
society
from both health and cultural perspectives.
Firstly
, the overconsumption of fast
foods
causes a range of severe health issues.
This
is due to the fact that fast
foods
usually contain a larger amount of fat contents, which is prone to cause diseases
such
as obesity and diabetes.
In addition
, many scholars believe that the transition from traditional
foods
to
convenience
products inevitably leads to a loss in culture. A number of classic
foods
are symbols of local culture in many countries around the world. Take the ‘Zongzi’ in China as an example. Not only are these rice-made products common dishes for Chinese people, but
also
they are ways to memorize their ancestors. With
this
in mind, I believe the health-related issues and cultural invasion do more harm to
society
. To put everything into consideration, while a wider range of choices and
convenience
of fast
foods
are beneficial to individuals,
society
suffers more from fast
foods
since they are the main cause for some common health issues and our food culture is weakened, for which I support the view above.
