Some people argue that testing on animals for medical research is necessary. Others say that this should not happen. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

The topic of medical

and testing on
animals
is subject to much controversy and, on one side of the debate, are those who argue that
such
procedures are morally reprehensible. Is it reasonable for humans to continue to conduct testing on

for our own selfish gains? Supporters of animal rights generally claim that
animals
have no way to explicitly give consent and that
such
procedures can cause unnecessary pain and even premature death of the creature. We, as humans, often talk about consent in our day-to-day relationships and,

, anti-testing activists will apply the same logic in these discussions. If an animal cannot speak, can it reasonably agree to

While
these opponents make valid and important points, it is my view that we should continue to use animal testing since

quality of life thanks to the progress made by

. The current status quo does not mean that we have to continue testing on
animals
forever. My view is that we should endeavour to find other ways we can conduct medical
research
using methods which may not have been discovered yet, always keeping in mind the importance of not causing harm to

where it can be avoided. For now though, despite the problems of animal consent, I believe the benefits of
this
research
to human life outweigh the drawbacks.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
