In many countries, traditions and customs are disappearing. What are the reasons? What should school and parents do to keeping our traditions alive?

The modern world continues to become more similar which leads to the extinction of national
traditions
and customs among various countries and nations and the globalization process can be blamed for it. Teaching and explaining the value of national heritage should be done by parents and educational institutes. Unconsciously all of us have been under the impact of consequences of the globalization process. The majority of the world population follows the trends which are accepted by society and share the same lifestyle and goals or try to mimic the behaviour and the values set in a global society. Being like others is our instinct to be accepted in the group as standing against reduces the possibility of gaining respect and success in it.
For instance
, Muslim students in an international school in Arizona changed their attitudes and national and religious
traditions
there in order to stand out from the surroundings. As upbringing in the family and in the school forms the children’s way of thinking and systems of values, it is parents’ and teachers’ responsibilities to influence children behaviour and bring close them to national
traditions
by organizing public events where they can explore the history of the nation and understand the importance of
traditions
and the influence of the latter on the evolution of the country.
This
means holding various types of events where children can participate and grasp the meaning of the festival and its beauty while playing games, competing with each other in knowledge and just having fun.
For example
, an old Slavonic festival Maslenitsa is held and celebrated where people cook and eat blini: the crepes of Russian national cuisine, children play winter games, and all people forgive each other. At the same time,
this
reminds them about their ancient past and
also
explains its meaning adopted in the Christianity period. So organizing gatherings is a key to keep
traditions
alive and ensure their diversity during
this
harsh time of the globalization process.
