Tourism has increased so much over the last 50 years that it is having a mainly negative impact on local inhabitants and the environment. However, others claim that it is good for the economy. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of tourism and give your own opinion.

Advancement in the transportation industry, a result of globalisation, foster the growth of the
tourism
sector. An Enticing controversy revolving around the positives and negatives of
tourism
demand attention. To a certain extent, benefits resulted from growth of employment and development of infrastructure due to
tourism
surpasses disadvantages offered by scarce
resources
and increasing level of pollution caused by
tourism
. Proponents of
tourism
argue that it raises employment for locals. Not only travellers require good accommodation that accelerates the growth of hotels, but they do
also
support local businesses by trying their hands on foods and cultural clothes unique to every nation.
Furthermore
, raising the level of visitors appeal to the nation to spend more on infrastructure by constructing good roads and buildings along with advancing communication system. All these ultimately increase the standard of living for an economy that promotes education and skill for citizens. Despite the above convincing benefits, an endorsement for drawback subsists. More travellers demand consumption of more
resources
which are scares to locals. To elucidate, some tourist places have extreme conditions
such
as the Sahara desert where locals themselves find difficult to manage with limited natural
resources
like water. If more travellers visit these places, local need to share these
resources
which are depleting.
Moreover
,
tourism
cause air pollution by increasing the number of flights. The above-referenced paragraphs reveal that
tourism
supports the economy by generating more income, though the argument that it affects the environment by pollution holds some water. I strongly affirm that
tourism
if managed well provide a plethora of opportunity to any economy to prosper and its popularity will continue to flourish.
