Nowadays longer distances are travelled by people to work and study on a daily basis. Some considered it to be a negative development. While others disagree. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Nowadays, long commutes are often mandatory for most
people
. They mainly travel long distance each day for either work or
study
. Some
people
frequently argue that
this
practice has more disadvantages, while some believe that it is beneficial to
people
. I completely agree with the former viewpoint and
this
essay will explicate both the views along with the reason to support my view.
To begin
with, most
people
choose to dwell in urban areas and travel to cities.
This
is mainly because urban areas are much cheaper than cities.
Hence
, by living in towns,
people
save up huge expenses like rental cost, meals and car parking charges. Another factor is that city lives are busy and hectic with a lot of pollution.
In other words
, urban life benefits
people
not only in a spiritual way but
also
in terms of expenses. To illustrate, public transportation
such
as subways are cheaper and the most commonly used mode of transportation in an urban area.
On the contrary
, daily commute has a plethora of negative impacts on
people
.
Firstly
,
people
waste a lot of time and energy in travelling to their workplace or
study
, which can be utilized effectively.
For example
, students lose their precious
study
time by travelling.
Secondly
, travelling daily will have negative effects on one's health.
In other words
, for some these journey become exhausting and tiresome.
For instance
, stuck up in traffic for long hours will make a person tired and depressed,
thus
taking a serious toll on mental health. Another point which can be considered is that sometimes the journey can be dangerous. To cite an example, during rain or snowfall travelling have many risks
such
as accidents or delays. In a nutshell,
although
some
people
argue that commuting to work or
study
is beneficial, I completely disagree with them as in my view
this
has more drawbacks compared to positives. By commuting long distance daily,
people
lose surplus time and
also
their mental health is affected. Sometimes they put themselves at risk by travelling long journeys.
