Some people believe that there should be a fixed punishment for each type of crime. Others, however, argue that the circumstances of an individual crime, and the motivation for committing it, should always be taken into account when deciding on the punishment. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Some parts of society opine that a fixed
punishment
should be received to the criminals for each type of crime
, whereas others believe that reason behind the illegal activities should take into consideration before deciding on the punishment
.
To begin
with, a fixed punishment
is given for severe crimes such
as rape, drugs smuggling and human trafficking. The reason behind this
is to reduce the crime
rate so that people
will think twice before committing a crime
. For instance
, reports have shown that Saudi Arabia has the least crime
rate due to its strong law regarding criminal activities. Nevertheless
, the fixed suffering will be a sign of justice to innocent people
and families. This
will increase the dependency of the community on the laws and regulations.
On the other hand
, people
think the law should investigate the motive behind these crimes. There might be several circumstances which forced to commit an unlawful act such
as financial problem, unemployment, hunger or criminal suffering from mental illness. The court should take into account all these reasons before delivering a punishment
. India has set an example in front of the world by giving a chance to the culprit to represent his side of the story. Although
this
method is time time-consuming, still people
received the right amount of punishment
.
To sum it, the two sides of the argument concerning the punishment
that criminals should receive. Although
fixed punishment
plays a vital role in a low-crime
index, we cannot deny that a proper investigation should be done before coming to a conclusion.Submitted by Yash on
