Some people think that young people who have committed serious crimes, such as robberies or violent attacks, should be punished in the same way as adult offenders. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Over the past few decades, young
crimes
have become more common in society. Some maintain that the young need to get the same punishment as adult
criminals
when they commit serious
crimes
such
as robberies and violent attacks. I
similarly
believe
this
, and my reasons are threefold. One primary reason is the fact that young
criminals
still cause the same result of what they have committed.
For example
, if a teenager kills an innocent person, the person still dies whatever age the criminal is. The consequence of the crime does not depend on
criminals
' age, it depends on the behaviour
criminals
done. Another reason is the fact that severe
punishments
are the best way to deter the young generation from committing
crimes
. Some of the young have a concept that they will not get any serious punishment after committing a crime, and
thus
they might be bolder to do bad behaviour.
Moreover
, severe
punishments
need to be implemented to let young people reflect on their actions. It is another way of education. It might be claimed that the young are too young to understand the difference between right and wrong, they need more time to identify what can do and what can not do.
However
,
punishments
are a method to compensate
victims
and are a kind of apologization to the
victims
. For
victims
, the injury had happened and it is hard to recover, so
punishments
might be an effective avenue for them to calm down. By way of conclusion, I believe that the young who have committed serious
crimes
should be punished in the same method as adult
criminals
because the consequence does not depend on ages, and
victims
' injuries will not disappear and it is difficult to recover.
