Technology has transformed every aspect of human life. Compared to the past, there are now several new
mediums
available to transfer
information
;
for instance
,
television
,
radio
and films. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of
television
,
radio
and
books
, and conclude with my opinion on the most effective
medium
.
Television
is one of the most popular
mediums
of communication because of its mass appeal.
Content
can be delivered in captivating audio-visual format. The majority of people, these days, use
television
for entertainment and
content
consumption.
Additionally
,
content
distribution is much easier than other
mediums
such
as
books
or comics as
content
can be pushed digitally and no physical distribution is required.
However
, huge investments are required to telecast the
content
which makes it difficult for smaller businesses or organisations to use it as a
medium
to deliver the
information
.
Radio
,
on the other hand
, is a much cheaper
medium
for small and
medium
enterprises. It is common to observe local businesses and companies advertising on the
radio
. But, with the passage of time and the advent of newer technologies,
radio
has lost its charm among audiences as one can only listen to audio in it. A significant chunk of people has moved to other
mediums
such
as
television
and films because of their ability to deliver in more appealing formats.
Books
as a
medium
are widely used to deliver
information
. People, for centuries, have used
books
to create and deliver
information
. Ease of availability and affordability are two major factors that played a vital role in the success of
books
as a
medium
.
However
, there are some drawbacks with
books
as well.
Books
need paper which in turn consume forests and since it's a physical product, it creates significant challenges in distribution compared to other digital
mediums
. To conclude,
television
is one of the most effective
mediums
to communicate
information
among those discussed above for its mass appeal and easily distributable
content
.
