More and more newspapers and news channels are using photographs to support their news articles and stories. Some believe that photographs are not a reliable source of news while other consider photographs to be irrefutable. Discuss both the views and your opinion.
Pictures can be used as validation of a particular claim.
However
, many people
believe that just displaying a picture can cause more harm, because it doesn't display the whole story, whilst others believe that visual confirmation is irrefutable. We shall discuss both views in this
essay.
On one hand, as mentioned earlier displaying a picture does not convey the whole story, and without the whole story, it is hard for the viewer to be objective. For example
, at the onset of the pandemic, many newspapers exhibit pictures of citizens moving around and not wearing face masks. On viewing, this
readers may be disgusted by the fact that people
are not abiding by the regulations put in place. However
, in reality, these natives were exercising and were did not require facemasks.
Alternately, photographs do help capture the difficulties of situations. For example
, in late August of this
year, the Taliban had taken over Afghanistan, and the speed at which this
happened shocked the world. So when it was reported that people
were trying to evacuate by holding onto any part of the aircraft leaving the airports, it was a difficult read. However
, when the photographs of these events emerged, they really captured the misery of the people
, because they were willing to do anything to get out of the country.
In conclusion, the saying a picture is worth a thousand words is
