Dear Manager, I am writing
this
letter to express my profound disappointment with the meal and service I received during my visit. I graduated
last
week and for the celebration, I selected your restaurant as I heard praises regarding the variety of cuisines and richness of flavour served here . I was very excited and I invited my whole family and some close friends to
this
celebration. To my disappointment, we had a really disturbing experience at your restaurant.
To begin
with, despite making the early reservations we had to wait for half an hour to get to our table. I totally understood that your location was really busy
therefore
I let it slide, I did not want to spoil my celebration in a disturbed mood.
However
, it did not stop there, the server took ages to serve us our food. Upon receiving the food we got dismayed with the taste of our meals. It tasted bland and had no flavour at all, calling into question the praises I heard. To discuss
this
matter I had a talk with one of your serving staff
nevertheless
I was disappointed with him too as he did not take my issues into consideration. My joyful moment was ruined by your restaurant’s dreadful services. In light of these issues, I am requesting a refund of my visit as the food and service were not commensurate with the cost. Alternatively, I would appreciate a significant discount on my future reservations as a gesture of goodwill. I trust that you will take my feedback seriously and make your patrons receive the finest services. I look forward to your prompt and positive response. Yours faithfully, Opinderdeep Kaur

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
