Some people think international car free days are an effective way of reducing air pollution, others think there are some other ways . Discuss both views and give your own opinion .

There is no doubt that air pollution is the most pressing crisis plaguing our planet, and if no action is taken immediately we will find ourselves in a very dire situation. Some people believe that an international
car-free
day can help to reverse
this
process, whilst others are against
this
idea. In
this
essay, we shall look at both sides of
this
coin.
First
and foremost, increasing international
car-free
days will create a change in the transportation sector. Many people will have to take alternate mediums of
transport
. They will be encouraged to carpool, use public
transport
and even in the case of short-distance travel, walk or use a
bicycle
.
However
, in many developing countries there is still no guarantee for
this
.
For example
, in my hometown Trivandrum, the price is currently INR. 104/- per litre, and keeps rising every week. Considering, that travel by car and bike is the easiest mode of transportation because of the distance between the different requirements in the city, and the lack of a reliable public
transport
system, individuals are still forced to rely on their cars to move from place to place. So the introduction of a
car-free
day will only disrupt citizens' lives Alternately, what the government needs to do, is to strengthen the public
transport
sectors, impose heavy fines on the number of
vehicles
a family can posse, and
in addition
, they must thrust onto the public fines for using
vehicles
after a certain hour.
Furthermore
, they should encourage local
bicycle
businesses, by creating more
bicycle
lanes and parks, which will in turn help to boost their business.
Moreover
, the ministry must impose benefits to
bicycle
users so as to promote
this
practice. Car manufacturers, must look into the possibility of producing greener cars, and slowly phase out the production of petrol and diesel
vehicles
. Once
this
happens, more and more petrol stations will cater to the new requirements by vehicle owners. These are some of the changes that the administration can enforce. In conclusion, I feel the introduction of
car-free
days will not really affect the overall problem,
instead
, more must be done to try to discourage users from choosing to use their
vehicles
and
instead
opt for more greener forms for
transport
.

Support ideas with relevant, specific examples

Examples make your writing easier to understand by illustrating points more effectively.

Examples, if used properly, not only help you get higher marks for ‘Task Response’ but also for ‘Coherence’.

When giving examples it is best to put them after your main idea or topic sentence. They can be used in the middle of supporting sentences or they can be used to start a new sentence. There is no rule for where exactly to give examples in essays, logically they would come after your main idea/topic sentence or just after a supporting sentence.

Linking words for giving examples:

  • for example
  • for instance
  • to illustrate this
  • to give a clear example
  • such as
  • namely
  • to illustrate
  • take, for example
