Some parents believe that reading books for entertainment is a waste of time for children and they think that their children should only read serious educational books. What is your opinion?

Many parents in the society often encourage their students to focus on developing their knowledge by reading educational
books
and refrain them from reading general
books
& novels for relaxation & entertainment. Personally, I disagree with
this
. In my opinion, reading is a very good habit and
children
must be encouraged to read
books
of different genres and they shouldn't be pressed to just stick with educational
books
as reading helps to improve the creativity and linguistic abilities. While reading educational
books
is certainly very important,
children
must be encouraged to read different kinds of
books
. Reading is proved to be one of the most effective ways to broaden knowledge and vision. It helps students to gather different views and information on any topic and
also
enhance their imaging capabilities .
Moreover
, it
also
enhances linguistic capabilities and will help them think more creatively and logically. It is
also
a very effective and proven way to relax.
Children
often get stressed up with their routine school works and the unhealthy competition in society. Reading
books
can help them relax and take a break from the usual schedule. To elaborate on, the IQ & EQ of
children
who usually read different kinds of
books
is generally higher than the ones who just read educational
books
Children
should not be restricted to read-only a certain section of
books
as
this
would induce boredom and there are
also
chances of them giving up reading
books
entirely. Restricting
children
on simple things like
this
would turn them into arrogant & stubborn individuals . Parents should always give preference to their individual choices and encourage them to pursue their interests. To sum it up,
children
should be encouraged to read
books
of their choice and they should not be confined to read
books
related to their subjects as reading
books
of different genres helps them to develop creativity and other very important interpersonal skills to become a better individual
